Happy Sunday friends, and welcome to Cornish special, in which I’m sharing my favourite recommendations from our road trip to the South West a couple of weeks ago. This was a trip that we planned to tie in with our friends’ wedding (for those asking, this happened at the gorgeous Cornish Tipi Weddings campsite, we camped in the rain, and it was truly beautiful), and extended into a little family holiday, because Cornwall is a really, really long drive from the Kent coast. I mean, if we’re going to bundle everything into the car and make the epic 9+ hour drive (with stops and a crying toddler) then we’re absolutely going to make the most of it.
As this was a family holiday, rather than a work trip, I’m not going to be sharing any sort of exhaustive guide, but I did want to let you in on some of the best things we ate, drank, visited and enjoyed while we were there, all in one place, in case you’re heading down that way any time soon. As ever, these sorts of super personal recommendations are something reserved for the paid community here, who are supporting my writing, recipes and time with a yearly or monthly fee, so if you want to access this piece you’ll need to hit the upgrade button below.
As jarring as I find it to ask anyone for money, I’m getting more used to asking to be paid for my work (so that I can carry on producing it), and the beauty of Substack is that this direct relationship with the reader is one of trust and connection, and that’s a rather lovely thing. I’m also hoping that any paid members who have tips and recommendations to share for Cornwall will also join in with the chat below the line, so that this piece becomes a little hub of ideas for anyone planning a trip there. So, if you feel like you can treat yourself, or indeed, a friend who might need a joyful pick-me-up, to my entire recipe archive, travel tips and guides, community chats and giveaways and much more, then come on board for less than a pound a week, if you subscribe for the year (though monthly subs are available).
