A precious moment

Isn’t it funny how things sometimes work out?

A few months ago, I found a rather ancient guidebook to Sardinia in my favourite charity shop. Having travelled in and loved Sicily, Naples and Ischia, Sardinia was feeling like it was next on the agenda, and now, dazzled by the turquoise waters splashed across the cover, I pulled it off the shelf, flicked through to the ‘Food and Wine’ section, quickly followed by the ‘Travelling with Children’ section (both glowing), and confirmed my suspicion that YES, this was definitely somewhere we very much needed to visit in the coming years. I bought the book as a statement of intent.

Our buffet dinners were the stuff of my wildest dreams. The oily wilted greens will never be bettered!

Whether by coincidence or cosmic intervention, a few weeks later, I was emailed by a PR contact who represents the Sardinian-owned, sustainable luxury hotel group Delphina, and invited, along with the family, to experience a couple of their properties in the North of the island which are especially proud of their food and family offering. How’s that for Sardinian Serendipity!? Guess what though guys? I only forgot to pack the ruddy guidebook! Turns out we didn’t even need it.

Raw Gambero Rosso: so sweet and creamy

We got back a couple of weeks ago, actually feeling quite rested, and I’ m still dreaming about the time we had there, because while I knew it was going to be good — Sardinia, the hotels we stayed at and the food we ate there — really knocked our socks off (I wouldn’t be writing about it here if they hadn’t), and in this newsletter, I want to share with you the reasons why that was, along with the most delicious details of our trip, because if you’ve been thinking about a holiday to Sardinia, these recommendations might just be the nudge you need, and if it’s never really been on your radar, I’m going to make the case that it should be. We came away knowing that we would definitely be going back.

We found the most amazing restaurant right on our favourite beach…
