The time has come to ASK ME ANYTHING!
Come say hello, tell me more about you, and ask me what you like
Hello, thank you for being here! This ‘Ask Me Anything’ is for paid subscribers, who are doing an amazing job supporting the work I do. If you want to join them in doing that, and access this Q&A (and my full recipe archive) you can start your paid subscription here:
Hello everyone, and thank you for being here. I hope you’ve all had wonderful weeks, although life’s usually a bit more complicated than that, isn’t she? Either way, I do hope you’re looking forward to some funtimes or relaxing times for the weekend, and that you might manage to carve out a little moment for some blissful reading, cooking or eating while you’re at it. We’ll be in London, ordering in Turkish, catching up with friends and walking in parks, and we may even be able to rope someone in for a babysitting session so we can hit the town and eat OUT at some restaurants. Let’s see.
But first. I can hardly believe it, but it’s been TWO blooming weeks since this baby got off the ground, and what a couple of weeks it’s been! On a personal level, things have been going on behind the scenes that have made them rather challenging, and so to see the subscriptions and support rolling in has just been utterly uplifting and very, very exciting. As I may have mentioned, I’m thrilled to be doing this, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for subscribing and reading and coming along for the ride. Recipes are being tested and words are being written, but there is so much more I’ve got planned, whirring around my head and in the works. I’m actually feeling quite impatient to roll things out, but I’m also aware I don’t want to spam you, and things need to unfold week by week. But it’s going to be fun. And joyful. And delish. And I’m here for it. And I’m so happy that you will be too.
Which brings us on nicely to this thing. Come and tell me about you! I’m super curious, and one of the things I’m really keen to do here at A Lot On Her Plate is build a community. Over the years, through work, Instagram, pop ups, book signings and events, I’ve had the privilege of meeting and even getting to know some of you a little, but it’s always felt quite sporadic and disparate - and let’s face it - there’s only so much you can say in an IG comment or DM. Writing a monthly newspaper column was brilliant, but aside from the Instagram tags, lovely comments (or not-so-nice below-the-line comment, cheers to the angry middle aged male readers for those) there was very little in the way of feedback. And so my hope for this platform is that we’ll be building a little hub of lovely folks that can chat to each other, and to me, and really feel a genuine sense of connection and community, things I’ve come to crave more than ever through the covid years. Founding members will experience this even more acutely, thanks to the online cook-alongs and exclusive, bespoke events we’ll be doing (you can sign up for that legend-status subscription below as there are still some spots left), but another way we’ll make that connection is through regular ‘Ask Me Anything’ sessions, the first of which I’m announcing for paid subscribers right now.
Of course, I do know it’s rather early in the lifespan of this newsletter to do this, and that there might only be two of you - which I’d be happy with tbf - but that’s not going to stop me, because I’m really keen to get to know some of you a bit better, and I’m hoping this could be a fun way for us to do that. You tell me a little bit about you, and then ask me whatever you like - career, food, leaving London, coastal living, motherhood, weaning - whatever - you ask and I’ll do my best to answer. I’d also love to hear what you’re hoping to get out of being here, and what you’d love to see/read/cook so that I can try to tailor this newsletter to better deliver this for you. This ‘AMA’, as they say ‘on the ‘Stack, is one of the special things that’s only open to my paid subscribers, so if you’re a free subscriber - who I should say, I I value very much - and IF you want to get more involved, you’ll need to upgrade.
All you need to do to get into it as a paid subscriber is to think of a question for me and drop it in a comment on this post. Ideally you might feel comfortable amongst your other ALOHP regulars to also reveal a bit about yourself and what you’re about, but that isn’t mandatory, and if you’d rather not I totally get that. But hit me up with your questions and I’ll answer as many questions as I can next week. That’s it. See you in the comments.
