I must have given you your first one> The mere mention of a chip butty, so beloved in the North used to bring protests of disgust and looks of horror from your Southern family 'til some saw the light, and I used to delight in shocking your father when I asked in some high-falutin' venue for a slice of bread and butter to accompany my Dover sole and french fries!
What an absolutely beautiful love letter to friendship! It made my heart feel full to read it. Now I'm off to fill my tummy with a chip butty, just thick butter for me, no sauces.
Truly missed you; itβs grand that you spent time away. This piece is splendid and full of life in your presentation of Uyen and your connection π. Iβm mostly vegan and always go for a gussied up tofu in yummy treatments. I can devour a really firm chunk plain. BUT, I eat lots of things simply prepared given my propensity to over consume. Nothing like a special fancy meal though.
Oh the joys of chip butty, I think we used to put salt and vinegar crisps in them too πback in the states so missing my Brit food , and about to finish succession tonight , we have 3 episodes left
Weβre off to Skopelos on Friday for a much needed two weeks r&r..... might not manage a chip butty at the local tavernas, (gyros and chips being a personal fave), but will do my best when no oneβs looking......!π¬π·
ahh I love this and so nice to hear Uyen here! I didn't know you guys went so far back - how fab :) And Uyen you were fab on 6 Music on Sunday with Cerys! P.S. The link to your Substack at the end has a typo. But now subscribed!
Welcome home, Rosie! I canβt wait to hear more about your Greek adventures - heading there (Kos) in a couple of weeks so wondering what dishes I shouldnβt miss. Also now craving some pho! π x
